Warm and comforting cheesy hamburger potato soup is a delicious blend of ground beef, creamy cheese, and tender potatoes.

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot, brown ground beef over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  • Add butter and chopped onion, cooking until softened.
  • Stir in flour and garlic powder, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  • Slowly add broth, stirring constantly.
  • Add diced potatoes and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender.
  • Reduce heat, stir in milk and shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
