Cool down with this delicious Iced Cherry Chai, a unique fusion of spiced black tea and juicy cherries. Perfect for summer, this recipe blends bold chai spices with the natural sweetness of cherries and a touch of honey or maple syrup. It's a flavorful, aromatic refreshment that’s easy to make and great for any occasion.
2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf black tea)
1 cup cherries (pitted, fresh or frozen)
1 ½ cups water
1 cup ice
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground cardamom
1–2 whole cloves (optional)
1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup milk or plant-based milk (optional)
In a saucepan, combine water, cherries, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Bring to a simmer.
Add black tea and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
Remove from heat. Let it steep for 5 more minutes.
Strain the tea into a jug. Stir in sweetener and vanilla.
Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Serve over ice. Add milk if desired. Garnish with cherries or a cinnamon stick.
You can use cherry juice instead of whole cherries for a more intense flavor.
Adjust spices to taste; increase or reduce based on preference.
For a caffeine-free version, use rooibos tea instead of black tea.
