Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf black tea)

  • 1 cup cherries (pitted, fresh or frozen)

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 cup ice

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom

  • 12 whole cloves (optional)

  • 12 tsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup milk or plant-based milk (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, cherries, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Bring to a simmer.

  2. Add black tea and simmer for 3–4 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat. Let it steep for 5 more minutes.

  4. Strain the tea into a jug. Stir in sweetener and vanilla.

  5. Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Serve over ice. Add milk if desired. Garnish with cherries or a cinnamon stick.

Notes

  • You can use cherry juice instead of whole cherries for a more intense flavor.

  • Adjust spices to taste; increase or reduce based on preference.

  • For a caffeine-free version, use rooibos tea instead of black tea.
