Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Brush a layer of BBQ sauce on each piece, then transfer the skillet to the oven.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Brush additional BBQ sauce on the chicken during the last 5 minutes of baking for extra flavor.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra caramelization, broil the chicken for the last 2 minutes.
  • Use skinless chicken breasts as an alternative but reduce cook time by 5-10 minutes.
